Play

Wonderful video about play from TED Talks.

How will you incorporate play into your classrooms?
How will YOU play with your students and colleagues?

  1. Here is a link to the New York Times article that Stuart Brown references at the beginning of the video:

Also, I came across another great quote to add to my list of quotes that pertains to play. -

You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation. - Plato

  3. Thanks so much for posting about it. I love TED but hadn't come across this talk. I so agree with what he said, and hope I can do my bit to promote learning through play in the blogosphere!

  4. Yes! Yes! Yes! The pressures of standardized testing have caused many teachers to remove play from their classrooms. As we "raise the bar" we push harder to accomplish more and forget sometimes that our subjects are children! I'm hoping that administrators will somehow get this message across as we begin a new year and give permission, if not expectation, to see more play in school. (I'm secretly hoping to see the white jumpsuits for our beginning of the year staff meeting!!!)

  5. @The Book Chook - You are very welcome. I love TED too. Thanks for choosing to do your part.

@carnett - I will work on the white jumpsuits for our staff meeting - no promises. Thanks for reminding me about this. We have so much to do during our staff meeting/collab time, but we have to find a way to incorporate play.
